Every family has its own pace, its own travels, and its own “home habits.” That is why, before buying, it is important not just to fall in love with a cute face, but to match your expectations with the projected adult weight of the Maltipoo. At MilaPoo Family, we have been helping families choose puppies “for their lifestyle” for over ten years, based on parental lines and stable weight-gain observations. If you want to see available puppies now, open our puppy catalog, where the size is specified for each puppy.

How we predict weight correctly

We look at the parents’ weight and body type, the puppy’s weekly growth rate, paw and chest proportions, and the “history” of the specific bloodline. A forecast always has a margin, usually plus-minus 200–300 grams for micro formats and up to 500 grams for larger sizes. The key is the honesty of the forecast: we set a range and support the family as the puppy grows so that expectations match reality.

Size Profiles

Super Micro: 1.4–1.6 kg

The most delicate format, chosen by fans of maximum compactness. Pros: easy to travel with, the dog feels comfortable in a carrier, convenient in the urban routine. Specifics: monitoring jumps from sofas, caution with small children, regular mini-breaks for rest during active play. Ideal for owners with a calm lifestyle who want to take their dog everywhere.

Micro: up to 2 kg

A slightly sturdier frame while maintaining “plush” compactness. It’s easy to find harnesses, carriers, and flight cases for Micro. The dog is surprisingly mobile but requires a gentle activity regimen and regular grooming. A great balance between “very small” and “practical for everything.”

Super Mini: 2–2.5 kg

Our most popular request. A noticeably compact format, but with enough durability for households with school-aged children, short hikes, and photoshoots. Standard care: brushing several times a week, scheduled grooming, and daily handling.

Mini: 2.5–4 kg

The comfortable “gold standard” for active couples and families with children. Easy to plan walks, car trips, and training sessions. This format is more tolerant of small jumps and has a good energy reserve, all while maintaining the signature baby face and soft temperament.

Standard: 4–6 kg

The most “family-oriented” in terms of stamina and the feeling of a “real dog” in your hands. Perfect for those who love longer walks and have a spacious home or countryside house. Easy selection of gear, stable temperature regulation outdoors in mid-season, and comfortable interaction with children under adult supervision.

Choosing for your lifestyle

If you have preschool-aged children at home, consider Mini or Standard — they are more durable and carry fewer risks during accidental rough hugs. For “urban minimalism” and frequent flights, Super Mini and Micro work great, while Super Micro is for owners ready for very delicate interaction and activity control. If you love active weekends and long walks, Mini or Standard will be more comfortable. In any case, the final decision is best made after a personal meeting: character and recovery time often matter more than a 300–500 gram difference.

Health and Safety: Does size really matter?

For the smallest formats, we pay close attention to jumps, slippery floors, and oversized toys. A rug near the sofa, a ramp, or stairs to the bed are simple things that reduce domestic risks. Regular grooming and dental hygiene are important for all sizes, but for Super Micro and Micro, we often recommend shorter grooming sessions instead of long “spa days” to avoid over-tiring the baby. Regarding nutrition, the difference is only in grams per day; the principles remain the same: a stable schedule, gradual changes, and body condition monitoring.

Travel and Flights

Micro and Super Mini usually easily fit airline requirements for in-cabin travel. Mini and Standard more often travel by car or with pre-approved flight case dimensions. We can suggest carrier models that airlines actually accept and put together a “travel kit.” If you are planning a trip, write to us to select a size that fits your routes and to prepare documents for traveling abroad.
