History of the breed
What is a Maltipoo?
The Maltipoo is a designer companion breed, created by crossing the Maltese with the Toy Poodle. It was developed in the United States in the late 1990s, when breeders were looking for a companion with the look of a plush toy, the intelligence of a Poodle and the gentle nature of a Maltese, and one suited to people with allergies.
From the Maltese the Maltipoo inherited tenderness, devotion to people and a compact size. From the Poodle came a sharp mind, quick learning and, above all, hair instead of fur, which barely sheds and carries no characteristic odor.
Today it is one of the most popular companion breeds in the world: they are equally at home in a small studio and a large house, adore traveling and quite literally read their owner's mood.

Do Maltipoos shed, and are they really suitable for allergy sufferers?
Maltipoos shed minimally: instead of fur they have hair with no undercoat. No breed is fully hypoallergenic, since dander and saliva can trigger a reaction too. Still, people with mild to moderate sensitivity are usually comfortable around a Maltipoo. The most reliable way to check is to spend 30-60 minutes with a particular puppy, and we will gladly arrange that meeting.
How long do Maltipoos live?
Maltipoos are among the longer-lived breeds. Average life expectancy is 12-16 years, and with good care some live to 17-18. Small breeds generally outlive large ones. Life span and quality of life depend most on proper nutrition, regular veterinary check-ups, activity and a stable emotional state.
How much does a Maltipoo puppy cost?
The price depends on size, generation, color and the parents' class: the more titled the parents and the rarer the format (Super Micro, for example), the higher the cost.
